Extra caution needed for drivers during busy weekend with many community events. 
Crystal Lake Police request drivers exercise extra caution while driving this weekend due to several events taking place within the City. There will be a charity motorcycle ride on Rt 14, a Beatles Blast event in the Downtown, a 5K run at McHenry County College, a triathlon along Rt.14, Pingree Road, Virginia Road and Rakow Road, and a religious parade along Oak Street. Drivers must be aware of the potential for rapidly changing traffic patterns, momentary stoppages, or temporarily closed roadways, in addition to increased pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
Practice safe driving habits, buckle-up, don't drink and drive, and avoid any activity that would cause you to drive distracted.
