VICTIMS: Withheld – 24 year old, male, Gilroy Resident
SUSPECT #1: Hispanic Male, 14-20 years old, approximately 5’10” in height, 200 Lbs., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, carrying an unknown make and model semi-automatic handgun

On 06/19/2014 at 7:18 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 7200 Block of Carmel Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Emergency medical personnel arrived a short time after to render aid. The victim was transported to a South Bay trauma center via air ambulance. He currently remains in critical condition.
Officers conducted an extensive area canvas and search for the suspects. Witnesses on scene reported them fleeing east on Eight Street away from the crime scene. Both suspects remain at large at this time.
Preliminary information revealed that a verbal exchange may have preceded the shooting. This incident may have been motivated by gang affiliation. Investigators with the Anti-Crime Team have assumed this investigation.
