District 5, Moses Lake firefighters battle house fire on Maple Drive

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (18JUN2014) – Firefighters from Grant County Fire District 5 and Moses Lake Fire Department teamed up to fight a house fire this morning.

Units were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. to 9276 Maple Dr. NE. It was unclear at the time of call whether everyone was out of the house.

Moses Lake Fire Chief Tom Taylor, who was nearby when the call was sent out, arrived at the scene first and helped keep the home’s elderly male occupant from going back inside the burning home. The elderly man was not injured.

About 15 firefighters from the district and the city brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.

The Sheriff’s Motor Traffic Unit, Moses Lake Police, AMR Paramedics and Grant PUD also assisted at the scene.

The older, single-wide manufactured home suffered severe damage. The Grant County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
