Active Shooter DRILL - San Marcos

This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with a safety message on Wednesday, June 18th.

If you live or work around San Marcos High School, be aware of a training exercise happening in your area.

Active Shooter DRILL
Wednesday, June 18th
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
San Marcos High School
1615 W. San Marcos Boulevard, San Marcos

Deputies from the San Marcos and Vista Sheriff's Stations, as well as officers from various law enforcement agencies will participate in the drill.

The drill will involve sounds of gunfire to simulate where a gunman is shooting at people. Teams of deputies and officers will make their way through the campus with mock firearms, practicing how they would track down a gunman and evacuation procedures. The goal is to prepare law enforcement personnel so they know what to expect in the chaos of a real shooting scenario.

People who live or work near the school need not be concerned about the extra presence of deputies, officers, emergency vehicles, as well as the sound of gunfire because IT IS ONLY A DRILL.

There will be road signs informing the public of the training. Public notification will also be done through the Sheriff's Facebook and Twitter pages.

School is out for the summer so classes will not be affected during the exercise.

Questions? Call the San Marcos Sheriff's Station at (760) 510-5200.

THIS DRILL IS NOT OPEN TO THE MEDIA OR THE PUBLIC.
