Two Injured in Car-Semi Crash

Dearborn County: This afternoon a two vehicle crash involving a car and a semi injured two sending one to the hospital. According to Trooper Cameron McCreary, this afternoon just before 3:30 a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by 16 year old Thomas Hertel from Batesville was southbound on S.R. 1 just north of York Ridge Road when for unknown reasons the Toyota drove left of center and struck a northbound 2006 Peterbilt semi tractor pulling a flatbed trailer driven by 41 year old Anthony Maggard of Greenup, KY. Hertel suffered facial injuries and possible broken bones and was air lifted to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Maggard complained of shoulder pain but refused treatment at the scene. The crash remains under investigation. Tpr. McCreary was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Matt Burkhardt and ISP Motor Carrier Inspector Bob Burkhead. Also assisting was Officer Thomas Tulley of the Indiana State Excise Police, Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrenceburg EMS, Greendale and Miller-York Fire Departments.
