Death Investigation at Scott County Jail

Scott County-Yesterday morning, the Scott County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into an early morning incident that occurred at the Scott County Jail. The incident that occurred around 5:30 am, involved an inmate, Johnie Locklear, 48, from Booe Road in Austin. Johnie Locklear was transferred to the Scott County Hospital from the Scott County Jail with health related issues. Shortly after 8:00 am, Johnie Locklear was pronounced dead at the Scott County Hospital.

Scott County Sheriff, Dan McClain, requested the assistance of the Indiana State Police to investigate the incident. An autopsy was performed at the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville, KY this morning on the body of Johnie Locklear. The autopsy was unable to determine a cause of death. However, pending toxicology results from the autopsy will not be available for up to six weeks.
This investigation is continuing. No further information will be released at this time.
