Advisory

Green Bay Police arrest 48 year old adult male for Possession of Child Pornography.

On Monday, June 10, 2014, The Green Bay Police Department, with assistance from the Brown County Drug Task Force, Brown County Sheriff’s Investigators, State of WI Department of Criminal Investigations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, executed a search warrant for possible child pornography at 919 Edgewood Drive.

Green Bay Police Detective Brian Schilt, who conducts these types of investigations, began the investigation on April 10, 2014, as a member of the state Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He was able to develop enough probable cause during the investigation to obtain a search warrant for the address. In the execution of the search warrant there were multiple media sources, computers, and camera’s seized. We have only been able to view some of the contents of these items at this time.

An extensive review of the evidence will be done and there will be further investigation to determine if he transmitted the child pornography to other people and we will attempt to identify them. We believe that there will be more charges after this review. At this time Sydney J. Leyse, a 48 year old male who lived at the address, was arrested and the case was sent to the DA with requested charges of 14 counts of Possession of Child Pornography 948.12 (1m). Sydney Leyse is a registered sex offender, but is not on supervision.

The Green Bay Police Department, in partnership with other local, state, and federal agencies, are increasing our efforts at identifying individuals who use computers or similar devices to victimize children. We will be aggressive in our investigations and pursuit of these individuals.
