The South River Fire Department will be conducting a training drill this evening beginning at 7:00 PM in the area of 98 Causeway. During the drill, fire departments from surrounding communities will also be present training alongside the South River Fire Department. There will be no actual fire used in the training however, fake smoke will be used to simulate real life scenarios that the firefighters would encounter at the scene of an actual fire.

Residents and motorists, especially those travelling on the Veterans Memorial Bridge, should not be alarmed at the large fire department presence and smoke coming from the area of the Causeway. If possible, all are asked to avoid the area so that our firefighters can concentrate on training in order to better help our residents in the event of an actual fire. Traffic control will be in place to limit access to the area during the drill.
