Medical Issue Appears to be Reason for Crash

Indianapolis, IN- A Michigan man appears to have suffered a medical issue prior to crashing his semi-tractor trailer late this morning on I-70.
Troopers were dispatched to I-70 WB at the 73.4 mm at approximately 10:25 a.m. this morning after receiving a 911 call of a semi-tractor trailer striking the guard rail and the driver unresponsive.
Preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed that Ricky Moon, 62, of Westland, MI., was operating a 2010 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer WB on I-70 at the 73.4 mm. A witness stated that Moon’s vehicle began to slow and drove off the roadway striking a guard rail where it came to rest.
The witness checked on the driver and found him unresponsive. Moon was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Investigators believe Moon suffered a medical issue prior to the crash. The semi- tractor received minor damage and was driven from the scene. The flatbed load of guard rails was uncompromised.
