Advisory

Arrest made in June 2nd robbery at the Citgo U-pump, 1233 Velp Avenue.

On Monday, June 2nd, 2014, at 6:15pm, officers responded to the U-Pump Citgo located at 1233 Velp Avenue for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers located and interviewed several witnesses to the robbery. A male suspect reportedly brandished a handgun and demanded money and then ran from the store to a vehicle waiting in the area.
With the assistance of several alert neighbors and other witnesses, along with tips from the public, we have located the vehicle used in this crime and have arrested the person responsible.
We are requesting charges of Robbery, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting an Officer on Logan Kyle Rivers, a 25 year old male from Green Bay. Mr. Rivers was arrested on June 5th, three days after the robbery. We were not able to release his name or information on the arrest at that time as we had lineups we needed to show witnesses and we did not want to taint their identifications. The case is currently under investigation and we may request additional charges for anyone who assisted him in the robbery.
This motivation for committing this crime was the need to supply a heroin addiction. We continue to see the impact that this drug is having on our community. Not only do we continue to see heroin take lives and impact families, we continue to see heroin addicts involved in crimes to support their habits, and even some recent vehicle crashes with children involved.
We encourage anyone who needs help, or knows someone who needs help, to reach out to one of the many service providers in the area. A list or resources is available on our website at http://www.gbpolice.org/images/AODA/aoda.pdf.

Three local task forces are partnering to present a forum in Brown County on the impact that alcohol, abused medications, marijuana, heroin and other illegal substances are having on our community. The forum will present personal stories, provide parents information on what to look for in their kid’s behavior if they suspect drug/alcohol usage, and resources that are available. The event is in the planning stages for September.

Someone will be available at 11:45 in front of the police department if media has any questions.
