Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Tree
Grant County – On Saturday at approximately 7:31 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash at 7971 East State Road 18, which severely injured a Gas City, IN man.
The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Weston Shanks revealed that Rolly Dulworth, 35, Gas City, IN, was allegedly driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck, at a high rate of speed, eastbound on State Road 18. The truck traveled off of the northside of the State Road 18 and collided head-on with a tree in the yard of a residence at 7971 East.
Dulworth, who was not wearing a seatbelt, had to be extricated from the crash wreckage by firefighters from the Upland Fire Department. He was flown by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital, in Fort Wayne, with life threatening injuries.
Trooper Shanks’ preliminary investigation also revealed that at the time of the crash Dulworth was allegedly over the .08 blood alcohol concentration limit which Indiana law considers a driver intoxicated.
