On June 5, 2014 at about 11:45 P.M., members of the Burlington Police Department responded to a residence on Maple St. for a report firearm being discharged into an adjacent apartment. Investigation revealed that Alexander Hogan (age 23 of Burlington) was clearing his 9mm handgun inside the living room of his first floor apartment. While clearing the gun, Hogan pointed it in an upward direction and accidentally discharged a round into the ceiling. The round traveled through the floor and into the ceiling of the apartment directly above Hogan’s. Nobody was injured during the incident, but the round traveled in close proximity to the upstairs residents. A consent search of Hogan’s apartment revealed over an ounce of marijuana, a marijuana plant, and other drug paraphernalia.
Hogan was subsequently issued a citation to appear at the Chittenden Superior Court for arraignment on Reckless Endangerment and Possession of Marijuana charges.
