Today, June 5th, members of the Beverly Hills Police Department will participate in the annual Special Olympics Torch Run.
The event is completed every year to help raise awareness and funding for the Special Olympics. This year, more than 85,000 law enforcement officers from across 35 nations are expected to participate in the run. In the State of California, a total of 3,500 officers are expected to run 1,500 miles through 200 communities.
The torch will be handed off to Beverly Hills Police runners from the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department between 2:00-2:15 PM at Sunset Blvd and Sierra Drive.
The runners will head west on Sunset Blvd to southbound Beverly Drive to Wilshire Blvd. From Wilshire Blvd we will run west to the entrance of the Los Angeles Country Club on Wilshire Blvd. Once at the Los Angeles Country Club we will pass the torch to LAPD West Division.
Please join us along the route and cheer us on as we carry the torch through Beverly Hills in support of Special Olympics.
