Detectives from the El Monte Police Department were conducting an investigation into the sale of illegal fireworks in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The investigation led to the service of a search warrant in the 13000 block of Halldale Ave in the City of Gardena. Detectives located an estimated 18 tons of illegal fireworks inside a warehouse. The Gardena Police Department is assisting El Monte PD detectives with their investigation. Six suspects were arrested in connection with the sale and distribution of illegal fireworks. They are being held at the El Monte Police Department. This is one of the largest, if the not largest, seizure of illegal fireworks in the City of Gardena.
