Residents invited to suggest city improvement projects at PIAC hearings this summer
Want to suggest a project for next year’s capital improvement budget in the City of Kansas City, Missouri?
The Public Improvements Advisory Committee, also called PIAC, invites residents to voice their ideas at a series of neighborhood hearings this June and July. PIAC funds typically are used for flood control, storm drainage, street resurfacing, bridge repairs, traffic signals, tree trimming and planting, and improvements to parks and trails.
PIAC comprises 13 members—two residents from each council district and a chairperson—who are appointed by the mayor and City Council. PIAC will use public input from the hearings to make recommendations to the City Council regarding both the citywide and neighborhood portions of the Fiscal Year 2015-16 capital budget. Project funding comes from the one-cent sales tax for public improvements.
