The Channahon Police Dept. has received several complaints from citizens reporting a man identifying himself as Special Agent William Sprague of the Internal Revenue Service has called their home requesting the citizen pay taxes owed from previous years. The offender, who has been described as having a heavy foreign accent, request the citizen to purchase ReLoadit cards or similar type cards, load those cards with money, then provide him with the serial numbers from the cards. The offender calls from a phone number displaying a "202" area code. This is the area code of the Washington DC area but is likely "spoofed" to provide the victim with a false sense of integrity of the calling offender.

THIS IS ALL A SCAM. DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY CALLER'S REQUEST CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE IRS.

The IRS does not call your home making such request.
