Memorial Day weekend stats for Moses Lake Sand Dunes
GRANT COUNTY, Wash. 02JUN2014) – Citations and infractions were slightly higher this year at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes as the Grant County Sheriff’s Off Road Vehicle team worked to make the dunes safe during the 2014 Memorial Day holiday.
Only minor injuries in the Moses Lake Dunes were reported over the busy weekend. In separate collisions, one rider suffered a broken collarbone, and another suffered a collapsed lung. Alcohol was not a factor in either collision.
Over the week prior, during, and after Memorial Weekend, total campers tallied around 7,700. Day users to include boaters, fishermen, and spectators were totaled over 3,700. Road District road counters tallied over 1,400 vehicles that entered the Moses Lake Sand Dunes.
ORV deputies issued 127 citations or infractions for a variety of offenses. Those numbers are included in the attached image.
“The Moses Lake Sand Dunes continues to be one of the most popular off road recreation areas in the state, and our ORV deputies do a great job making it a safe place to have fun,” said Sheriff Tom Jones.
