GREEN BAY, WI – May 27, 2014 – Since 2001, the Green Bay Police Department Marine Unit (GBPMU) has been patrolling the Fox River within the city of Green Bay. Since inauguration, there has never been a designated logo signifying the Marine Unit. In January, the GBPMU reached out to the district to inquire if a graphic design class would be interested in designing the logo as a school project. Business & Information Technology teacher Raymond Johnson of Preble High School accepted this challenge, and had his class develop several logos in March. On Monday, June 2 at 12:30 p.m., the student whose logo was chosen by the GBPMU will be notified in person during class at Preble.

The student with the winning design will be presented with his/her own personal shirt with the logo; the same shirt that the officers will be issued. In addition, the student will have the opportunity to ride along on the police boat at a later date.

Over the years, the Marine Unit has increased its vessel fleet and countless officers have dedicated their time to keep the waters safe. Officers are on patrol various times during the boating season promoting safe practices, enforcing laws and ordinances, and providing law enforcement services.
