Citizen’s Tip Leads to Major Drug Arrest
Bartholomew County: Earlier today three individuals were arrested on drug related charges following a citizen’s tip regarding possible drug activity. According to Master Trooper Marty Mead, Indiana State Police and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies were following up on information of possible drug activity at 4110 West County Road 500N near Columbus. During their investigation they learned 53 year old Thomas C. Burton of that address had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for Criminal Mischief. At approximately 11:00 a.m. troopers and deputies went to the residence to serve the warrant and discovered items that led them to suspect possible drug activity. Based on what they saw at the residence they developed enough probable cause to get a search warrant. A search warrant was secured and executed early this afternoon. Located during the search was over 20 pounds of marijuana packaged in 1-2 pound bags, approximately ¼ to ½ pound of cocaine, methamphetamine, over $20,000 in U.S. currency, and over 30 firearms.
