Officers are investigating a two-vehicle traffic crash that led to the injury of a man and death of his infant son.

The Arlington Police Department responded to a traffic crash at approximately 9:30 a.m. today, Thursday, May 29, 2014. The collision occurred at the intersection of South Cooper Street and California Lane, involving two vehicles and a pedestrian with his infant.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a male infant in his stroller and his father had been struck by a pickup traveling southbound on South Cooper Street. Another vehicle traveling northbound on South Cooper Street and attempting to make a left turn onto California Lane was also involved in the crash.

According to traffic investigators, the infant’s father was with the child waiting at California Lane to cross South Cooper Street. Investigators are trying to determine which vehicle had a green light. The father, as well as the drivers of the two vehicles, were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The infant was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to traffic investigators, it is unclear who is at fault or where the pedestrians were during the time of the collision.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will release the name and age of the infant.
