Ten Torrance Officers will be honored for heroism on Thursday, May 29th

Officer Ian Maier will be receiving the Medal of Valor on Thursday, May 29, 2014 for his involvement in a traffic collision that occurred on April 17, 2013. The incident involved a female driver who was trapped inside her vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames.  Officers Richard Gabel, David Ybarra, Matthew Jungers, Keith Crofton and Brian Harris will also be receiving Distinguished Service Awards for their involvement at that scene.

 

Officers David Ortega, Kevin High, Brent Clissold and Keith Crofton will be receiving Distinguished Service Awards for their involvement at an apartment fire on April 18, 2013, involving a mentally ill female who had barricaded herself inside her apartment, set fire inside and refused to leave.

 

 

A total of 28 South Bay police officers and 6 firefighters will be honored for heroism and career achievement on Thursday, May 29th.   For the stories on all involved click the following article from the Daily Breeze:
