Mail Theft Suspect Captured. Media release of surveillance video sparked calls to PD; suspect identified and arrested 
On May 13, 2014, Gardena Police Department released video footage of a suspect stealing mail at an apartment building in Gardena. The police department sought the public's help in identifying the suspect. After the suspects photo was shown across multiple media outlets, the police department received calls from the public which helped identify the suspect.
Working on the leads from the public, Detectives from the Special Enforcement Unit identified the suspect and obtained a search warrant for his residence. Special Enforcement Detectives served the warrant at the suspect's residence in the City of Carson on May 28, 2014. The suspect was taken into custody and is being held at the Gardena Jail.
The suspect is Gabriel Martinez, 30 years old, from Carson, CA.
