Two charged in stabbing; one charged with possession of methamphetamine
Detective Paul Alkire of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Stephanie Dawn Riddle, 41, of Old N.C. 18 in Morganton, with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor assault on a handicapped person.
He also charged Winston William Webster, 58, of Edelweiss Drive in Marion, with one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun and breaking and entering.
Investigative Lt. Chris Taylor of the Sheriff’s Office charged Sarah Denise Riddle, 44, of Ashworth Road in Marion, with felony possession of methamphetamine.
Alkire said, on Monday, May 19, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Webster and Stephanie Riddle allegedly broke into the Ashworth Road home occupied by Daniel and Sarah Riddle and Robert Buchanan, who owns the residence.
The detective added that, during an altercation involving a firearm, Daniel Riddle grabbed a knife and stabbed Webster twice in the abdomen. Webster was taken to Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, where he was admitted but has since been released.
Buchanan, who is disabled, was also injured during the assault but was not taken to the hospital.
During the investigation and a subsequent search of those involved, detectives allegedly found less than a gram of methamphetamine on Sarah Riddle’s person.
