Kentucky man arrested for traveling in excess of 100 mph on US 41.

On May 22, 204 at approximately 3 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith was traveling southbound on US 41 when he was passed on the right by a red 2013 Hyundai traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputy Smith continued to follow the vehicle and was able to determine that it was traveling in excess of 100 mph in a 60 mph zone. While following the vehicle Deputy Smith stated that “the vehicle was swerving in and out of traffic, and was causing a substantial risk of bodily injury to anyone traveling on US 41.” Officers were able to stop the vehicle at US 41 and Deadman’s curve. During a roadside investigation Raymond C. Canary age 49 of Utica, Kentucky was identified as the driver. Mr. Canary was transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Reckless Driving and Criminal Recklessness with a vehicle. He has since posted a $2600 bond.
