Fleeing Suspect Strikes ISP Commission-No Injuries

Greene County—This evening at 5:40, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office was attempting to stop a white 2014 Chevrolet passenger car on State Road 157 near Bloomfield to investigate a reported road rage incident. The white Chevrolet failed to stop for the Greene County deputy and a pursuit originated.

Off-duty Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun was in the area and attempted to assist the deputy. The suspect vehicle veered into Trooper Klun’s 2013 Dodge Charger around 5:41 p.m., with the pursuit ending after the collision at 5:42 p.m. on SR 157 near Bloomfield. Klun is a three year veteran of the ISP.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old James Wallisa of Loogootee, IN. Wallisa was preliminarily charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Reckless Driving, and Possession of Precursors. Wallisa remains in the Greene County Jail.

Assisting were ISP Master Trooper Eric Russell and Probationary Trooper Riley Nungester and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

Questions concerning the Greene County Sheriff’s Office involvement and their charges should be directed to that agency.

No injuries were reported.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
