This is an update to a recent crime prevention alert message where we reminded followers of the importance of locking their parked vehicles. Shortly after that message was published, the Brighton Police arrested two young men who had been stealing items out of unlocked vehicles. This pair operated after dark, but we're aware of these type of thefts occurring even in broad daylight. The two thieves arrested told us that they would check up to 40 cars a night searching for unlocked vehicles to steal from. They also told us that the practice is common amongst the other teens and young adults they "hang out" with in the area.

So spread the word, remove your valuables and lock your cars. If you see something suspicious please dial 911 and let us know, we're happy to check it out.
