Reminder: Columbia River closures above Wannapum Dam
As we approach the Memorial Day weekend we want to take this opportunity to remind those planning a trip to the Columbia River of the temporary shoreline closures above Wanapum Dam to below Rock Island Dam. All Grant County PUD, WDFW and Washington State Parks access points on the Wanapum shoreline and reservoir are closed to the public right now for public safety and to protect culturally sensitive sites. We will have increased patrols along the shoreline at all hours and anyone found on the shoreline will be cited for criminal trespass.
There are great places to enjoy time in the sun just below Wanapum Dam and throughout our county. For a list of recreation sites that are currently open on the river visit: http://www.grantpud.org/community/rec-area-maps.
We realize that the temporary shoreline closure creates a hardship for those who had planned to recreate on the Wanapum reservoir section of the Columbia River. We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this temporary closure.
