Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a woman in the 200 block of North Spring Avenue, Compton, on Monday, May 19, 2014 at approximately 9:08 PM.

Detectives have learned that a 20-year-old male resident of Compton was riding his bicycle in the area when an unknown male suspect began shooting at him. Candice Barcenas, a 26-year-old female was inside a home in the area and heard the gunfire. Victim Barcenas stood behind a screen door as she looked outside and was struck by a stray round fired by the suspect. A third victim, a 32-year-old resident of Compton was standing outside the residence and was also struck by the gunfire.

Victim Barcenas sustained a single gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The victim riding the bike was not injured and the victim standing outside was treated at a local hospital and later released.

There is no further suspect information and the investigation is ongoing.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
