State Police Dive Team Recovers Items From Allen County Burglaries

(Leo, IN)-The Indiana State Police Underwater Search and Rescue Team (USRT) assisted the Allen County Sheriff Department this past Friday in searching for items of evidentiary value thought to have been discarded in the St. Joseph River, north of Grabill Road.

According to Master Trooper Steven P. Malone, Team 1 Leader, two purses and other miscellaneous items from four victims were located in about 10 feet of water approximately 35 feet from shore. The purses contained identifications, credit cards and other items that were allegedly taken from multiple burglaries in Allen County. These items were turned over to the Allen County Sheriff Department as part of their on-going investigation.

The various specialty teams from the Indiana State Police routinely assist state, local and federal agencies in providing necessary skills such as underwater search and rescue when they are asked for in instances like this.
