Heated argument between two brothers ends with shots fired and one transported to hospital.

MATTAWA, Wash. (16MAY2014) – One man received multiple gunshot wounds to his leg Thursday afternoon during an altercation in a residence near Mattawa. The victim was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. His condition is not known at this time.

Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic violence call with shots fired around 3:30 pm to 21280 Road 24.7 SW, near Mattawa. Upon arrival, the gunshot victim, Telefaro Herrera, age 30, was found inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds to his leg. The suspected shooter, his brother, was also at the scene.

Statements were taken, and evidence collected, including a .22 caliber rifle. The suspected shooter, Torvio Herrera, age 32, was taken into custody. He was charged with first degree assault and domestic violence.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office believes this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
