Patoka man arrested on numerous charges after brief low speed pursuit.

On May 12, 2014, at 8:12 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a call from Vanderburgh County Dispatch reporting that a Tan 1993 Ford Ranger was traveling Northbound on I164 and was hitting several road construction barrels on the roadway. Sgt. Bryan Ellis was dispatched to intercept the vehicle on I69. Sgt. Ellis observed the vehicle traveling at an extremely low speed on the interstate and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. After a brief low speed pursuit the vehicle was stopped and Sgt. Ellis initiated a roadside investigation.

During the investigation Sgt. Ellis noticed significant damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, and that the driver Brandon J. Pinkston age 27 of Patoka had lacerations to his left shoulder. Sgt. Ellis later discovered that Mr. Pinkston had struck a guard rail on I69 in Gibson County and fled the scene. Also during the investigation Sgt. Ellis observed that Mr. Pinkston appeared to be under the influence and began administering standard field sobriety tests to help determine the level of his impairment. After the roadside investigation was completed Mr. Pinkston was transported to the Gibson General Emergency Room for treatment for the lacerations to his shoulder and to submit to a blood test. Ultimately Mr. Pinkston was transported to the Gibson County Jail.

Mr. Pinkston is charged with:
Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle

He remains in custody on a $5,000 bond.
