The driver and vehicle involved in this incident have been identified. The 34 year old male driver (Gilroy resident) walked in to the police department's lobby on 05/11/2014 to provide a statement relating to his involvement in this investigation. He was not taken into custody at that time. This investigation is on going and charges are pending district attorney review and recommendation. The victim continues to recover from her injuries. No further information will be released at this time.

TYPE OF CRIME: Felony Hit & Run (Vehicle vs. Pedestrian)
CASE #: 14-2103

LOCATION: 200th Block of Tenth Street (intersection with Rosanna Street)
VICTIMS: Withheld – 24 year old, Female, Gilroy Resident

SUSPECT: Unknown

SUSPECT VEHICLE: Unknown Make and Model, Champagne Color, Full-Size SUV, missing the driver’s side mirror

Details:

On 05/09/2014 at approximately 9:56 pm, the Gilroy Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Tenth Street with Rosanna Street. At arrival officers located the female victim suffering from serious injuries. Officers also were informed that the vehicle involved in this collision had fled the scene west on Tenth Street toward Monterey Road. Emergency medical personnel arrived to render aid the victim. She was transported to an area trauma center where she is currently listed in stable, but serious condition.

Officer canvassed the area in attempt to locate the responsible suspect and vehicle with negative results. Witnesses on scene were interviewed and this investigation continues to be on going.

The Gilroy Police Department is asking the community for assistance in locating this vehicle. It is described as a full size Champagne color SUV, missing the driver’s side mirror, and was last seen traveling westbound on Tenth Street away from the scene.


This investigation is on-going and is actively being investigated by Gilroy Police Officers.
