Traffic Stop on Indiana Toll Road Yields Almost 90 Pounds of Marijuana
(LaGrange County, IN)-A man from the state of Washington was arrested last Friday afternoon by a Trooper from the Indiana State Police Post on the Toll Road for dealing and possession of marijuana after he violated the state’s “move over” law.
According to Trooper Ted Bohner, at approximately 1:30 p.m. 59 year old David Crane Pemberton of Mount Vernon, Washington was traveling eastbound on the Toll Road in the area of the 111.8 mile marker when he failed to move his 2013 Chrysler Town and Country van into the next lane as he passed a Toll Road maintenance vehicle and worker doing work on the side of the roadway.
After stopping and briefly conversing with Pemberton, Bohner became suspicious and called for Trooper Nicholas Meade and his K-9 partner Sabre’s assistance. After conducting an open air sniff, Sabre alerted on the van. Bohner then conducted a search and found numerous packages which totaled 87 pounds of marijuana along with 1076 grams of marijuana wax.
Pemberton was taken into custody without incident and incarcerated in the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of:
• Dealing Marijuana, More Than 10 Pounds
• Possession of Marijuana, More Than 10 Pounds
He was held on a $20,000 bond and has since bonded out after his initial court appearance.
