Police Arrest Burglary Suspect - Vigilant Neighbor Calls in Suspicious Activity

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – On Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at approximately 11:59 a.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a 911 call from a resident reporting a suspicious person knocking on the door of a neighboring residence before going into the backyard.

The caller was familiar with the homeowner who lived in the
residence on the 900 block of Lois Avenue and did not believe this person should be on the property. The caller provided a detailed description to dispatchers as officers set up a perimeter in the area.

A perimeter officer observed a subject matching the description
walking on the street directly behind the residence and detained him.
During the investigation, officers determined that the subject had made unauthorized entry into the residence that was initially observed by the caller. Officers also located property from a second, earlier reported residential burglary that occurred in Sunnyvale.

The 18-year old suspect, Tariq Roddy-Figero of Oakland (aka Tariq Roddy-Figueroa), was arrested and booked into County jail on two counts of residential burglary. DPS is asking for anyone who has information related to these burglaries or this suspect to contact Sunnyvale Detective Nick Epidendio at (408) 730-7650.
