Traffic Advisory

Northbound Closure Postponed
Bridge Work To Continue Southbound
U.S. 84/285 & North Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) May 9

Santa Fe–The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will continue bridge rehabilitation work on U.S. 84/285 and North Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) north of Santa Fe near the Tesuque Village at mile post 171.6 on May 9, 2014. This work includes the removal and replacement of the bridge approach slabs, bridge sleeper slabs, transition slabs and roadway improvements at the interchange.

Starting Friday, May 9 at 9:00 a.m., the North Tesuque Interchange southbound exit (172) will be CLOSED, and the U.S. 84/285 southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane and be detoured through the off-ramps and on-ramps at this interchange. The cross-road at the North Tesuque Interchange will be closed during this time. There will be no access from CR 73 to southbound U.S. 84/285. The southbound closure will remain in effect throughout the weekend. There will be an 18’ width restriction. The southbound lanes to the N. Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) will be RE-OPENED on Monday, May 12 at 6:00 a.m.

During the North Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) southbound closure, local traffic can use Exit 175 (Camel Rock) for access to the west frontage road. There will be no outlet from the west frontage road back onto U.S. 84/285.

The project changes will include additional weekend work on the bridge rehabilitation project utilizing one lane closures. This project is scheduled for completion July of 2014. The Federal Highway Administration and NMDOT have partnered to fund the improvements. G Sandoval Construction, Inc. of Las Cruces is the contractor for this project.

Drivers are urged to proceed through the work zone with caution, observe traffic control signs and obey speed limits. Updates on this project will be posted on the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s road conditions website, www.nmroads.com
