Advisory

Officers investigating motor vehicle crashes causing injury. Henry at Lincoln and Forest Park at Lake Harbor.

Norton Shores Police are investigating two afternoon motor vehicle crashes, both of which caused personal injuries.

On May 8, 2014 at approximately 12:43 pm, a vehicle driven by a 77 year old Grant woman was facing south on Henry Street in the center turn lane waiting to turn left into a parking lot. A northbound vehicle, driven by a 66 year old Fruitport man, drifted into the center turn lane striking the southbound vehicle. His vehicle rolled over on Henry Street. The driver and his 40 year old female passenger, who suffered facial and head injuries, were transported to Hackley Hospital. It does not appear that speed was a factor in this crash; however, officers are investigating to determine if the driver was somehow distracted.

At approximately 1:01 pm, a vehicle driven by a 66 year old Muskegon woman was eastbound on Forest Park, stopped at the stop sign on Lake Harbor Road. She waited for a vehicle traveling southbound on Lake Harbor Road to turn onto Forest Park and then proceeded to go through the intersection; however, she failed to see to a motorcycle traveling southbound behind the turning vehicle. The 29 year old Roosevelt Park man driving the motorcycle received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. The female driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
