Fort Wayne Post to Welcome Two New Troopers **Correction**

Fort Wayne, IN- Two new troopers will be reporting for duty at the Indiana State Police Post in Fort Wayne. On Monday, May 12th, they will be two of 47 new troopers reporting to their districts of assignment following graduation from the 73rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy which took place on Friday, May 1st.

On November 10, 2013 these two men began 25 weeks of intense training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield. During the training period the recruits received approximately 600 hours of classroom instruction as well as nearly 300 hours of hands-on practical and scenario based training exercises.

Governor Mike Pence and Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter recognized the accomplishments of the class and following the keynote address by Governor Pence, Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court, the Honorable Brent E. Dickson administered the oath of office to the graduates.

Fort Wayne’s newest Troopers are:

• Probationary Trooper Jeremy A. Brice, 25 is a native of Columbia City and is a 2007 graduate of Churubusco High School. Following high school, Brice attended IPFW for two years and studied Criminal Justice before being hired by the Whitley County Sheriff Department as a Confinement Officer. He also worked as an EMT for Parkview and as a Reserve Police Officer for the Columbia City Police Department before being accepted to the 73rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. Brice resides in rural Columbia City and will be assigned to patrol duties in Huntington and Whitley Counties.

• Probationary Trooper Brent D. Lemberg, 24 is a native of Fort Wayne and is a 2008 graduate of Northrop High School. Following high school, Lemberg attended Huntington University and then Ivy Tech where he studied Criminal Justice. He had been employed by Culver’s as a manager when he was accepted to the 73rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. He is currently resides in Fort Wayne with his wife Lindsay and he will be assigned to patrol duties in Jay and Blackford Counties.

The new troopers will put their recruit academy training to work in the field as they begin 12 weeks of field training where they will be paired with experienced troopers specially trained to serve as Field Training Officers. Upon successful completion of the field training program, they will be issued their own police cars and begin solo patrol responsibilities.
