Two alarm residential fire occurred last night on the 1000 block of Borregas Ave. in Sunnyvale.
SUMMARY OF EVENTS:
On May 8, 2014 at 0158 hours, Sunnyvale DPS personnel responded to the report of a structure fire at Cape Cod Village Mobile Home Park, 1050 Borregas Ave, #21. The residence is a single story mobile home located within the complex. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence. Patrol Officers arrived on scene and assisted an adult male out of the residence. A 2nd alarm was called immediately for staffing due to the potential for a rescue and fire extension to the neighboring residences. The fire was brought under control within twenty-five minutes. The residence was completely destroyed by the fire. Santa Clara Fire Department provided mutual aid to backfill Sunnyvale Fire Station 2 during this event. This fire required two alarms and used a total of 9 apparatus and 25 personnel during firefighting operations.
The Red Cross came to provide housing for a displaced family member. Fire Cause Investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. During a search of the residence, two deceased persons were located. The cause of the fire is under investigation
