San Mateo County Police Chief's & Sheriff Association and the 100 Club Fallen Peace Officers Memorial

Today the San Mateo County Police Chief’s & Sheriff Association and the 100 Club presented the Fallen Peace Officers Memorial in Redwood City. The memorial is a yearly tribute to the 28 dedicated men and women of the San Mateo County law enforcement family who have given their lives in the line of duty since 1888.

The Menlo Park Police Department suffered its own tragedy on September 22, 1960 when Officer John Lyle lost his life in a gun battle. The officers of Menlo Park have retired the badge number of Officer Lyle in honor of the ultimate sacrifice he made to the community he served. Badge number 3 will never be worn by another Menlo Park Officer but will forever live on in his memory.

The week of May 13th has been designated as National Police Week to honor the men and women of law enforcement. Please take the time to pay tribute to those officers that currently serve their communities as well as those who have lost their lives doing so.
