DPS Blotter April 29 - May 5

Welcome to the inagural publication of the weekly DPS Blotter. These messages are being sent out to raise community awareness of public safety events occurring within our community, educate the public about safe practices, and to encourage community engagement by reporting criminal or suspicious behavior to DPS.

Wednesday April 29

Weapons Violation – 300 Block Morse
Officers responded to a reported argument over a hit and run collision. The ensuing investigation resulted in one person being arrested for brandishing a weapon and another person being arrested for illegal possession of pepper spray.

Residential Burglary – 1000 Block Clematis
Time: 1030-1230
An unknown suspect jumped over the rear fence and entered through an unlocked rear sliding glass door. Once inside, the suspect searched through a few areas of the residence before fleeing through the front door in an unknown direction. Nothing was taken.

Auto Burglaries – 769 North Mathilda
Time: 1730-1815
Three auto burglaries occurred in the parking lot of the Beer Garden. In all three burglaries the suspect smashed a window to gain entry into the vehicles. Laptops, backpacks, suitcase, and other small articles were stolen. (Note: Residents are reminded to keep valuable items out of plain sight, preferable in the trunk of the vehicle.)


Thursday April 30

Restraining Order Violation – 200 Block Charles
Time: 0200
Officers responded on a report of the suspect violating terms of a restraining order. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival but was subsequently found hiding in a nearby apartment laundry room. The suspect was ultimately arrested and booked into County Jail

Residential Burglary – 700 Block San Rafael
Time: 0830-1830
An unknown suspect made entry into the residence through the unlocked front door. Once inside, a 150 – 200 pound safe with numerous handguns, rifles, and shotguns was stolen.

Saturday May 3

Robbery – 1000 Block Syracuse
Time: 1500
Upon returning home after being out for a short time, an elderly couple was confronted by a suspect inside their residence. The suspect was armed with a handgun and took jewelry from the vicitms. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 35-40 years old with a neatly trimmed beard. (Previous Nixle message has been sent with a sketch of the suspect).

Drug Possession – 927 East Duane
Time: 0024
Officers responded to the LaRonda Nightclub on a report of a disturbance. While investigating the disturbance, officers discovered an involved party was in possession of methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and booked into County Jail.

Possession of Drugs for Sale – Azure Street and Cirrus Avenue
Time: 0521
An officer contacted a subject sitting in his vehicle. The investigation lead to the suspect being arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale. The suspect was arrested and booked into County Jail.

Monday May 5

Residential Burglary – 1300 Block Miette
Time: 0815-1800
An unknown suspect entered the residence through an open kitchen window. Once inside the suspect stole electronics and jewelry.
