(Huntington County, IN)-A man wanted on parole violation charges from the State of Michigan was arrested early this morning by the Indiana State Police following a foot pursuit that started after the man had been stopped for a speeding violation.
According to Master Trooper Mike Jeffers, this morning at approximately 7:50 a.m. he observed a late 1970’s model Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound on I-69 in the area of the 285 mile marker at 87 miles per hour. Jeffers said that after he caught up to the truck with his emergency lights activated, the driver eventually pulled to the shoulder but continued for another mile at 40 miles per hour.
After finally stopping near the 278 mile marker, the driver of the truck, James Yeshua Brown, 37 of Lake Orion, Michigan was approached by Jeffers and after a brief conversation, Jeffers returned to his patrol vehicle. It was at this time, and despite verbal orders from Jeffers, that Brown exited the truck and ran into a field and then a wooded area approximately ¼ mile south of where his truck was parked. After about 20 minutes of searching by numerous officers and two K-9 teams, Brown was apprehended without further incident by Indiana State Police Sergeant Dan Mawhorr as he was exiting the woods.
Further investigation revealed that Brown was currently wanted for parole violation in Michigan. He was taken to and incarcerated in the Huntington County Jail on a preliminary charge of Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor. Agencies assisting were the Huntington County Sheriff and the Warren Police Departments.
