Arrest Made in Burglary Case

On April 24, 2014 at approximately 2:23 am, Stokes County Deputies were dispatched to NC Hwy 89 W Westfield NC, on a Burglary call that had just occurred. When Deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke to the home-owner who reported to Deputies that earlier that morning they had heard a noise coming from a bedroom in their residence and when they walked into their kitchen, an unidentified male with his face covered, was coming out of the bedroom and then forced the home-owner into a chair. The home-owner was then tied up by the intruders and a coat was placed over the home-owners head. The male intruders stole several property items, then left the residence with the home-owner still tied up. According to the report, the home-owner was able to get loose and then called for help. In this case the home-owners car was also stolen by the intruders as they left the burglary scene. Upon receiving this information, Deputies gave out a vehicle description and a “Be On the Lookout” for the stolen vehicle, so that other law enforcement Officers and agencies could be looking for the stolen vehicle. Stokes County Detectives were called to the scene where they conducted an intense crime scene investigation.

On April 24, 2014 at approximately 5:32 pm Stokes County Deputy Chad Poteat was dispatched to the 1000 block of Dave Dearmin Rd in Pinnacle NC for a discharging firearm call. When he arrived he observed a car matching the description of the stolen vehicle from the burglary scene given out in the earlier stolen vehicle B.O.L.O. description. Deputy Poteat was able to confirm that it was in-fact the stolen vehicle. Deputy Poteat eventually saw two subjects attempting to flee away from the area near the stolen vehicle on Dave Dearmin Road. A short foot chase then ensued. The two suspects were later apprehended and taken into custody.

Sheriff Marshall stated; “We will continue to strive to keep our citizens safe. Our Patrol Officers and Detectives worked over 24 hour’s straight to see that these individuals were captured. No citizen should ever have to experience this type of violation while in the privacy of their own home, or anywhere else, for that matter.”
