On April 27, 2014, at 1:28 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a complaint about a Red Passenger car with one headlight and a sunroof that was all over the roadway and had run off the roadway on more than one occasion. Central Dispatch stated that the vehicle in question was westbound on State Road 64 near County Road 350 East. Deputy Roger Ballard found a Red 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo with one working headlight and a sun roof traveling Westbound from the Lake Road/ State Road 64 area. Deputy Ballard followed the Monte Carlo observing the vehicle traveling all over the roadway and nearly strike a curb near Swifty’s station. Upon initiating a traffic stop on Broadway and 8th street Deputy Ballard identified the driver as Ashley D. Atkins age 30 of Princeton. Deputy Ballard a Drug Recognition Expert observed that Ms. Atkins appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. After a roadside investigation, and a drug influence evaluation Ms. Atkins was transported to the Gibson General Emergency Room where she submitted to a drug test. After the results were returned to Deputy Ballard Ms. Atkins was transported to the Gibson County Jail where she was charged with Operating A Vehicle While Intoxicated (DUI.) Ms. Atkins remains in custody on a $750 bond.
