Summary:
At 7:47pm, the parents of a 12 year old female juvenile called Petaluma Police Department to report a suspicious incident that frightened their daughter. They reported the following information.
At about 5:00pm, their daughter was walking with their family dog on Rainier Avenue near Sonoma Mountain Elementary School when she noticed the vehicle and driver described above pass by her several times. She became frightened and decided to hide in some bushes out of view to the passing vehicle. Once the vehicle had left the area, she went home and reported the incident to her parents.
The suspect did not attempt to contact the victim and the driver did not say anything to the child. While the behavior is suspicious, investigators have not determined that a crime occurred. However, out of an abundance of caution, this school alert is being issued to inform residents so they can be on the lookout for any similar vehicles or activity.
