APD arrest Amarillo man on stolen auto charges.

On Tuesday April 22nd at approximately 8:30am, APD officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of S Carolina on a stolen vehicle that had just occurred.  The homeowner had started their 1995 Toyota 4Runner while it was sitting in the driveway, allowing it to warm up. Approximately 15 minutes later when the owner went back outside the vehicle was gone.  The homeowner did notice a male and female hanging around nearby in the area when they started the vehicle. While the officer was making the report and putting out a description of the vehicle and the possible occupants to the other field officers, one officer recalled seeing a similar vehicle near Smelter road and Hastings. The officer began checking the area where the vehicle was last seen and the direction it was seen going. The officer was traveling north on River Road at Willow Creek when he observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car. The vehicle did not have a front license plate and as the officer was turning around to check the vehicle he noticed the vehicle did not have a rear license plate either. The driver then took off at a high rate of speed passing other vehicles north bound on River Road. The vehicle was last seen going north on River Road then turning west bound on Cherry and later into the Rolling Hills neighborhood. Additional officers responded to the area and began searching for the vehicle and suspects. Officers later got into a foot chase with both subjects. The female passenger was apprehended first and later the male driver.  Both were taken into custody and the vehicle was recovered behind a residence in the 200 block of Rolling Trail and released to the owner. The male driver is identified as Grant Tyler Curtis W/M 22 was arrested and booked into the Potter County Correction Center on charges of UUMV and Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle. The female was taken into custody on local municipal court charges and was later released to the court.
