4-19-14: 17 year old suspect booked for four home burglaries...

On the afternoon of 4-19-14, APD officers began investigating four home burglaries that were reported in northeast Amarillo between 4:30 and 5:45 PM.  The first call came from the 2000 block of Evergreen, where a resident was home when two suspects kicked in the front door and entered.  When the suspects saw the resident, they ran out the back door.  An officer located a juvenile male and a HM 17 in the 5800 block of NE 21st shortly after the call was dispatched.  They were detained but were released pending investigation when they were not identified as the two that entered the home.  At 5:25 PM, officers responded to a burglary of a home in the 5900 block of NE 23rd.  Residents had returned home to find that the back door had been forced open.  Electronic game consoles and jewelry had been stolen.  While this call was being investigated, officers responded to a report that a HM wearing a blue coat and blue backpack was seen jumping out of a fenced yard at a home nearby on NE 21st .  The man then got on a bicycle and rode away.  An officer located and stopped a HM17 that matched the description, riding a bicycle, in the 1600 block of Bluebell.  Gaming consoles and other items in the man’s backpack were identified as property taken on NE 23rd.  The suspect Andres Lugo HM 17 was arrested for burglary.  He was transported to the APD for additional investigation.  Meanwhile, officers responded to home burglary reports in the 900 block of Foxglove and the 1200 block of Gardenia.  Additional investigation led burglary detectives to link the man in custody with all four of the afternoon home burglaries.  He was transported to the Potter County Detention Center and booked for four counts of burglary of a habitation.  Officers are still seeking laptop computers and other items stolen in the burglaries.  The juvenile detained during the investigation on Evergreen was not present when the adult suspect was arrested and has not been located.
