Indiana State Police Investigating Inmate Death

Marion - Today, Indiana State Police Detective Brent Ingram, at the request of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, launched an investigation into the death of jail inmate Brandon Miller, 27, Marion, IN.

This afternoon at approximately 3:19 p.m., correctional officers found Miller allegedly hanging from a wall handle in his third floor jail cell. He was unconscious and not breathing. He never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead a short time later. The preliminary indication is Miller committed suicide by hanging himself.

Miller was incarcerated on a Gas City arrest warrant for failure to appear for driving while suspended prior (10 years). Miller had been incarcerated in the Grant County Jail since an early morning arrest on April 18, 2014.

This investigation is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
