Join us for “Coffee with a Cop” in Montecito, April 22 from 9-11:00 a.m. at Starbucks on Coast Village Rd. w/ SBPD!
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Barbara Police Department are joining forces for the first ever “Coffee with a Cop” in Montecito. The public is invited to come to Starbucks located at 1046 Coast Village Road from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, for coffee and conversation with Sheriff’s deputies and Santa Barbara Police officers who serve the Montecito community.
Both the Santa Barbara Police Department and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office routinely hold “Coffee with a Cop” events and decided to do one together in Montecito since both agencies are responsible for policing the community. The Santa Barbara Police Department is in charge of Coast Village Road and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the surrounding areas. Sheriff’s Detective Matt Banks, who will be attending the event, said, “Coast Village Road presents a unique environment because despite the fact that the Santa Barbara Police Department handles the businesses, Sheriff’s deputies are often seen on Coast Village Road. This can create confusion for the public. I hope people will attend this event because it will give them a chance to talk with deputies and officers from both agencies who work in their community.”
The Sheriff’s Office has held “Coffee with a Cop” events in Carpinteria, Goleta and Isla Vista but this is the first time one has been held in Montecito. The goal of “Coffee with a Cop” gatherings is to provide the public with a casual atmosphere where they can get to know Sheriff’s deputies that work in their community and ask questions they may have.
