The 2nd week of April is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators.

Since 1981, public service agencies nationwide have recognized the pivotal role played by telecommunicators, dispatchers, communications operators and radio control personnel — all those people, by whatever title, who utilize telephones, radios, computers and technical skill to provide support to law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire departments and other governmental field personnel.
Each year the second week of April is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators. In 1991, Congress proclaimed it as a nationally recognized week of recognition.
Woods Cross PD recognizes this year’s National Telecommunicators Week April 13-19 in honor of the dedicated dispatchers who handle thousands of 911 calls each year for us.
They dispatch the appropriate resources and coordinate with all emergency services agencies in South Davis County to the needs of the public in emergencies and on a routine basis.
Bountiful dispatch was established in 1961. The department currently has 13 full-time and one part-time dispatcher. Woods Cross PD department appreciates the ladies and gentlemen and the job they do. They are the first responders of emergency services and the angels on our shoulders.
This week, Woods Cross PD will honor all Davis County 911 dispatchers who work 24/7, 365 days a year to support the agencies that help keep the citizens of Davis County safe.
