Sexual Battery Suspect Arrested and Charged by the DA .

The Oakland Police Department arrested a sexual battery suspect
last week. On Friday, April 11, 2014, the Alameda County District
Attorney’s Office charged Carlos Contrerasanguian, 24, in connection with a sexual battery that occurred on April 10, 2014, at 9:20 AM, in the area of West MacArthur Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

A key part of our crime reduction strategy is to share information with the community. As a result, the community’s informed participation has assisted us in making arrests.

BACKGROUND:
On April 10, 2014, at 9:20 AM, the victim, a 22 –year-old woman, was
approached by a stranger from behind. The stranger grabbed her and began inappropriately touching her before fleeing. Witnesses and the victim provided a description to the police. During a search of the area, officers located the suspect and arrested him in connection with the crime. Investigators are in the process of determining if this suspect is responsible for similar incidents of woman being assaulted on city streets.

- Remember to lock your car door after entering your vehicle; and
